A huge part of networking online is sharing your database and connecting other people to their “Centers of Influence” to help them build their business. A “COI” is a person who is in a position or business that tends to have great influence with prospects in your target market. Simply put, a COI is someone who has the ability to consistently refer business to you. Example: A loan officer can look for people who need loans OR go out and build a relationship with a REALTOR who can consistently refer clients.
If you can make a habit of connecting people together you’ll quickly find people returning the favor and your business will grow exponentially.
Share your story and include the following…
- What do you do?
- How would you describe your ideal customer?
- Who are your Centers of Influence?
- Tell us something interesting about yourself that only a close friend would know.

My name is Dallas Cyr and I am “Dedicated to Guiding Willing Individuals in Living Happier, Healthier and Wealthier Lives through the use of Professional Speaking, Writing and Blogging, One on One Coaching and Philanthropy.” That is my personal mission.
They call me the “Edutainer” because I use music, poetry, movies and other forms of entertainment to teach self-mastery. I think personal development should be fun.
I have discovered that Self mastery is the key to business & financial, relationship and health success. The better you know and understand yourself the better you understand God and the Universe.
“You are the key and the lock.”
My personal niche’ is helping people discover their purpose and life mission and help them build a bridge from where they are now to the life they wish to live! Create goals, stay motivated and remain accountable and on track doing the proper action to live your dreams.
I spent 7 years as a financial planner and loved what I did, but I realized I wasn’t entirely fulfilled. Like Steve jobs has been quoted saying, “I want to put a ding in the universe.”
I decided to broaden my goal and change careers to truly live my mission. To live a life doing only what I am passionate about and play bigger! You can too!
Now as a personal coach, professional speaker and entrepreneur I use my expertise and talents to guide many people to their desired results.
My ideal client is someone “Searching”! They know they have a purpose and want to discover what their unique gift is and how to share it with the world. They are hungry and searching for MORE in life. They want better health, money(but not just for the sake of money but to make a difference),and deeper more meaningful relationships. They know its out there but either feel stuck or don’t know how to start or where to look.
Centers of influence for me speaking engagements are people who are in charge of hiring and booking speakers, presidents of non-profits and event coordinators. For my one on one personal coaching, psychologists, NLP practitioners, Realtors and financial planners; basically people who are in a position to hear about their clients current dissatisfaction and desire for more in life.
I look forward to connecting and seeing how I can be of service to you or someone you know.
Wishing you Peace & Prosperity,
Dallas Cyr
Hey Dallas!
I’ve got to say that it’s been really nice getting to know you over the months. I’ve gotten so much value out of your trainings and also our friendship.
Keep up the great work my man!
Cheers,
Nick
Hi –
My name is Avi Gross. I am the owner of a team development company called Project Ascent. We create learning opportunities for teams to address and strengthen the core competencies of successful working teams.
Our ideal customers are companies and corporate clients with 20-500 employees and the willingness to take their team performance to unprecedented heights…ultimately greatly affecting their bottom line.
Interesting fact about myself – I have a lot of fear around success. Often times I create a story in my head about not being able to do something well. “I can’t, I won’t…no one will listen anyway…etc.” I truly want to break free from this madness and find the success that I feel I deserve.
Hi Nick,
First, I wanted to say that I’m absolutely blown away by your blog. It’s filled with value. I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and connect.
I also connect business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals for a large entrepreneurial organization called CEO Space. We hold off line events 5 times per year in Henderson, Nevada. People come from all over the US, Canada, and various parts of the world.
Our model is based on cooperative capitalism and non competition. All of our members give before they receive. That’s why I love what you are doing. You definitely radiate that same spirit.
We are looking for anyone who wants to take their business, no matter what it is, to the next level. An ideal client would be an up and coming entrepreneur, speaker, author, inventor, professionals (such as lawyers, CPA’s, doctors) and also investors.
Our network helps people increase their customer base, create strategic alliances, develop business strategies, raise capital and more. Our members interact and receive guidance from top fortune mentors and thought leaders.
Okay, something about myself that not many people know. I’ve also worked for 30 years in the film industry as a voice over actor. I am best known for my work in Japanese anime. You can check out my credits on http://www.imdb.com under the name Rebecca Forstadt.
Warmly,
Rebecca Olkowski
Hey Rebecca!
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with me. It sounds there’s a lot of synergy between what we’re both doing. I love the “Cooperative Capitalism” approach. Let’s definitely connect soon to see how we can help each other build and grow.
Cheers,
Nick
Hi Nick,
Thanks for all the great information and for setting up this page.
I’m a marketing specialist who specializes in improving your existing processes and systems. In Wealth Dynamics, I’m what’s known as a “Mechanic”…
To give you a point of reference, guys like Ray Kroc (McDonalds), Sam Walton (Wal-Mart), and Jeff Bezos (Amazon) are Mechanics. They take existing models, automate what they can, remove inefficiencies, and make the whole model scalable while constantly making improvements.
My ideal customer is someone who needs help streamlining, automating and outsourcing their marketing so they can work on their business instead of spending so much time in their business.
My centers of influence are gurus and coaches who are working with clients that are overloaded with everything an online marketing business requires or who just don’t want to do everything themselves.
Most people don’t know that inefficient systems and processes drive me crazy – they seem to call for me to improve them, make them faster and more efficient. On a personal level, I lived in Mexico twice after attending New Mexico Military Institute.
Cheers,
Jason R. Ayers
Great timing Jay…I’ve been looking for a new mechanic! lol Very impressed with your description and really see the value in what you do. I’ve got a few balls in the air right now and would love to talk with you when the dust settles about helping me to streamline my business.
***Also, many thanks for the referral to Joel. I’ll definitely have my head on a swivel to connect you with others.
Cheers,
Nick
Nick,
THANKS so much, just on day 2 and already enjoying your content!
About me!!!! Well short version…I have been working in leadership training for about 20 years, in and out of corporate America. In 1999 I became an “at home” entrepreneur. I have run 4 different businesses and I averaged meeting or exceeding my husband’s income on less than 1/5th the hours:)!
I have been coaching individuals for the past 4 years, mostly as an associate of another coach. So creating my own on-line presence has become the project of 2010. I prefer to spend most of my time actually WORKING with my clients! The budget hasn’t allowed to hire someone to do social media so I’m looking forward to your tips leveraging my power through limited time here.
My mission is to heal families Mentally, Emotionally, Physically and Fiscally.
I do this by working with parents, and those planning to be parents in the near future. I guide them to making career choices that will accelerate their income gain. We also work together to teach them to budget time and money spent with family so they feel they are the priority, even when career demands are heavy.
My focus is a set of “BootCamps” designed to help them grow in ALL areas of their life. I am getting my next Career/Wealth BootCamp started on July 26th and would LOVE help from anyone in filling it. (JV partners, yaaahoo!)
Updating my website in the next day or two to better explain it!
Hi Nick, I’m very impressed so far with your blog and I’m getting ready to listen to your 7 series. Babe Mooney, CEO and Founder of AutoPilotFMS, LLC
Here is my background (please forgive the shameless self promotion, but you said to go for it) and what I now do…
I am the former owner of the “#1 revenue producing Fitness Together 2-room (1100 sq ft) Studio west of the Mississippi.” I went from zero revenue to just under half a million in sales in eighteen months without any fitness experience. In my second year in business, I averaged $38,000.00 per month, every month. I maintained that sales volume month after month.
What was my secret? I spent all my time on marketing and follow-up. I was never satisfied with just the prospects that signed up. I wanted the ones who didn’t and I followed up with them until they did. The one advantage I had over most fitness owners was my marketing background AND I was willing to do what most owners could not or did not want to do.
I sold my successful studio and moved to Florida to retire. After months of lying in the sun, I knew I was just too young for this retirement stuff. But it gave me a lot of time to think about what I really love to do and what I’m really good at.
With the downturn in the economy, many of my fellow fitness owners were (and still are) struggling. So I decided to put my marketing skills to work and offer to help fitness owners to not just weather the financial storm, but to prosper during it.
After much diligent research and investment, I have created AutoPilotFMS, a “Done-For-You” lead generation and follow-up service, that literally takes marketing off of your hands and puts it on AutoPilot. I significantly increase leads, and increase customer retention with the power of our new, fully automated technology.
My follow-up service is an email marketing system that is automated and done for the owners, they do no work whatsoever.
I currently market to fitness owners however I am expanding my programs capabilities to be able to work or all industries. This expansion will be done and on the market in under 2 more months. At that time any business is a good candidate for my service. And my service would be a great addition to your tool box. Which I found to be a wonderful resource already.
I have a DEMO on my site http://www.autopilotfms.com
BTW Nicholas Grant recommended you to me. I use Infusionsoft and my delivery engine and we are looking at the possibility of doing some work together. I look forward to talking with you.
Hey Babe!
You have a truly amazing story and I’m so glad that you shared it here on my blog.
I love that you’re out helping entrepreneurs prosper during these times instead of just “weathering the storm.” We all can literally achieve anything that we put our mind to and it’s refreshing to read that you’re spreading that good will.
I’m looking forward to connecting soon.
All the best,
Nick
Hi Nick,
Love your crash course :)thanks. I am still in grad school and also work as an intern. My passion for social media really grow multi fold while working as a LinkedIn research analyst at school and during a team project on twitter for one of the course.

I have just started my blog and in the phase of implementing all the knowledge I had gained in the last 3-4 months in my blog. I am from a small north-east state of india and not a native speaker of English…but yet I am throwing myself in the videoblog bangwagon so just see where I stand.
Please feel free to know more about me..cheers

Looking to optimise fb advertising and it sounds like you know how. Do you have a video course?
Kind regards,

Nick,
This is how I have come to this page.
1. Login to facebook
2. See and ad on the right with the question, “What do you think of my new page?”
3. Clicked on the link because I was curious.
4. I saw that you were giving away a free iPad if I clicked on the like button.
5. I clicked the like button and saw that all I needed to do was give you my name and email to be entered to win this cool prize.
6. I went on your wall and saw that 3 of my facebook friends already liked your page. Instantly you had huge credibility in my mind because of who those 3 friends were.
7. I clicked on the Free Gift tab as put in my name and email again for your free 7 day social media course.
8. I landed on your thank you page and saw you holding an adorable child, who referred to you as Uncle Nick. Instantly felt like I could trust you.
9. I read every word on the Thank You page and scanned through the comment. One thing popped out at me 2 times. Some hidden bonus in one of the 7 videos. I logged this in the back of my mind.
10. I clicked on toolbox and saw that you had put a lot of cool tools in one place. Especially liked your comments on a few of them.
11. I click on my story and could relate with so many of the things that you have been through.
12. I saw the Introduce Yourself tab and was really impressed. So I clicked on it and read each and every comment.
13. I decided to leave this comment.
14. Ok, while writing my Story below I got distracted and added the cool wibiya toolbar to my dad’s website.
http://www.robertthomasart.com
My Story
1. What do I do?
I sell my father’s paintings in Hawaii.
I play the keyboard and sing spontaneous songs for my clients and friends.
2. My ideal client is someone that would like to bring Hawaii into their home or office
3. Center of influence would be
a. An interior designer for homes, offices, hotels or condos
b. Gallery owners
c. Marketing person from Home Shopping Network etc…
4. Something interesting about myself that only a close friend would know is… I actually invented facebook. Just kidding. I was quite shy while growing up and did have a notebook that I would write name/ age/ hobbies/ sports/ favorite food/nationality/phone number/ in 5 words describe yourself, your parents and Jesus/ and maybe a couple of other questions. I would pass it out to people that I met and they would fill in the blanks.
In the last 7 years I’ve invested tens of thousands in business development and personal development training. The most important thing that I have received from those events is PEOPLE SKILLS.
Michael
Michael I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to write this out, it totally made my day.
Just this week a company in Hawaii asked me to speak in April…I’m so fired up I’ve never been there.
Looking forward to keeping in touch,
Nick
Awesome. If you happen to be on the Big Island of Hawaii, I would love to have you over for dinner. We live in the Waikoloa area and my wife is an incredible cook.
Will do!
I’m Jenni and I own my own very small photography company. I’m happy that my business as small as I really don’t want to ever burn out my passion. I advertise online enough to get a couple jobs a month and then keep my time for me.
However, like everyone else I need a job that can support me. So because of my success in Social media marketing my own business, I got Hired for a Coupon company to do their Social Media Marketing.
JB Dollar Stretcher, is an Ohio company that started out sending local coupon books ( which they still do) to The Cities of Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Canton, Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Youngstown, as well as Detroit, MI. They in recent have added an online coupon website, and just this year added One day “groupon” like deals that get sent to peoples’ email everyday.
My advertising was adequate for my own small company but I feel a little over my head trying to broadcast this much larger audience. The audience for the Emails is Women 22-45 who would like to Stretch their budgets by purchasing discount vouchers to desirable places like restaurants and salons.
My Job is to get more people to sign up to receive these emails. (I also write the copy for all the deals. Yes, every deal.) My success in the company depends on my ability to generate numbers. I also run our facebook & twitter accounts. I’ve very opened minded to ideas.
Great story Jenni! Let’s definitely keep in touch and share ideas about this exciting industry that we’re in.
All the best,
Nick
Hi Nick,
Loved your 7 day crash course … watched it all in one day. I was feeling quite overwhelmed and your videos helped me to regain a bit of perspective.
I have over 20 years experience running a printing franchise and marketing consultancy, working in a predominantly tough male industry. I specialise in packaging businesses into a marketable product and was well known in my industry as the “go to person” and graphic design queen. When I left my busy suburban business behind I was bombarded with job offers and was quite emotional at the outpouring of support and well wishes.
And yet out here in the country … I have spent the last four months trying to get a handle on online marketing – converting my offline knowledge into a profitable online service. What a crazy overwhelming and frustrating experience it has been. I have done so many courses, read so many ebooks, watched a hundred hours of video.
In my head I know what I have to do. I know about facebook, autoresponders, affiliate marketing, websites, blogs, mobile marketing, membership sites, keyword research etc. etc. I already have the design skills – so what is stopping me?
And then you hit it on the head in your video – I am isolated – not only geographically, but from like minded souls who share the same passion for marketing, design, building business products and connections.
I need to find a tribe or as you put it an etryb.
I am just starting my journey but your words have been comforting.
Thank you :)
Would love to get a copy of your spreadsheet too.
Hey Vanessa! I’m really glad that you enjoyed the crash course. I’ve got lots of good info coming out that I that will really help to take your business to the next level online.
Keep up the good work and keep your head on a swivel for other like minded members in your niche to network with. The spreadsheet is on the way too.
Cheers,
Nick
Hi, I am Petter Rogstad from Stockholm Sweden. Nice to meet you guys and learning the skills of internet marketing from Nick.
I have some experience working with affiliate marketing but what I do right now is building a team that will work with new age internet mlm. It is really challenging to find the way of working online that can be replicated and that will give quick results when it comes to building your downline and promoting your products.
I am also a father of 5 children and my goal is to leave sack my boss befor christmas.
Thank you Nick for your Crash Course. Using social medias is the fondation of my strategi for new age mlm.
regards Petter
Wow 5 kids! Keep on pursuing the dream my friend and stay passionate. Online MLM can be challenging to create duplication but internet marketing can be super helpful to find your “ideal” target customers & distributors. Then you can plug them into your system.
Wish you all the best!
Nick
Nick- My husband and I are furniture/mattress retailers. We offer mostly American Made sleep products,as well as adult and youth furniture from both USA and China/Malaysia/Vietnam.
We had 4 locations and now have one. Three other people now depend on us for their employment.
I believe our future depends on our ability to marry social media with our current advertising and eventually replace it.
We will become the destination location we were when we first opened with just one location. I feel blessed to have one store and only one to manage.
I have no background with hardware or software of any kind, but I am a smart woman, I know what a computer is…. :) I will study hard and do my best.
Ideal Customer=Over 40/shops as couple, if a couple/home owner/previous appliance or household goods purchaser/owns newer car/employed or retired.
COI’s=Not sure. I think this is like “little champions” from wizard of ads. Everyone needs to get their rest, but their family/friends/coworkers suggest where to buy, right?
Something extra/personal for you?
For shizzle…I have fears about learning this, and I have to watch your videos more than once and take notes to “get it”…plus, I recently lost 30+ lbs and changed my hair to a sexy, long style! I am re-inventing myself like Cher and I am tired of pretending I am not special! LOL :) If you were thinking of Charlie Sheen on your own, we will get along fine.
Thanks for doing this Nick, you are truly providing a great service to the business community. I have tried to talk social media to
ad reps/friends/business owners/others and it seems a big mystery in Central Illinois! In fact, I even asked a ad rep if a Mobile Coupon (app?) I purchased could have a Link to my fb page…of course only the fb logo is avail, not a link.
Why do I think a fb link IS AVAILABLE and they just don’t know how to do it, because it is a MOBILE product??
I am looking forward to classes!
I will catch up, the best is yet to come!
See you,Peg
Hey Nick,
I like your site and fan page a lot. Thanks for putting up this information and especially on upcoming Facebook Mastery Summit. Some of the speakers which I personally learned from before.
I’m a social media marketing consultant operating our business/services off shoring from South Asia though our headquarters are in Houston, TX.
Our folks are well-trained from Philippines and Singapore. We decided to do so as part of my contribution:
1. Educate more people that joining in as social media consultant in South Asia region.
2. Educate and serve the local customer and U.S based customer within this region.
3. Be involved in society response i.e. disaster like tsunami and earthquake
Our goal is to help our clients to:-
1. Get Presence online rapidly and easily.
2. Built “tribes” instead just fans only
3. Position them as the “authority” in their respective field.
4. Get their clients to be automated follow-up all the time via voice call, text messaging & email.
Our ideal clients are hopefully a blend mixture from local business within South Asia region and international clients from U.S and Europe. Our targets mainly focus on reasonable medium business size that struggle to do well in social media and small business struggling how to get themselves known online. It could be professionals or any respective fields.
As for the center of influence, we are looking at various business owners to “outsource” all these social media marketing activities which literally they don’t have to touch it at all and leave all the dirty work on us. In addition, we will create customized learning session to educate their staffs on what they do, if they would like to take over these work in future.
We hope to stay serving people both in business and society needs too. Just to sum it up one sentence.
~We lead and drive this industry to the next level, so that your business have the privilege to thrive at all times~
Stay in touch!

Just quoted you on the Facebook fan page “Relationship Riches” because I agree that a huge part of networking online is sharing your database and connecting other people to their “Centers of Influence” to help them build their business. This is the Relationship Age (like the book says!)

Hey Nick,
I ran across your webinar on facebook and was very impressed. I’m a self-published Author releasing my first book “A Night at Tears of Crimson” a paranormal romance series.
My goal is to reach out to the masses and introduce my product. As my own promoter, agent, and publicist you can imagine that it’s a daunting task. My main focus on promotion has been Twitter (@MichelleHughes_) and facebook.
I’m really looking forward to the techniques in your webinar. I’m hoping I can utilize them to branch out in my promotional areas.
Thanks So Much,

My ideal customer: Anyone who wants to get paid to use social media.
My centers of influence: One of the first to catch my attention was Mike Dillard. The funny thing is he invited me to join the inner circle before the inner circle formed and I was too busy. DUMB move on my part, but like I said I like to learn the hard way.

Hi Nick
Just watched the vid from Magic Bullet… Great stuff.
Haven’t caught up for a while—just starting a new project where I guide entrepreneurs and startups through that most difficult phase of business growth—to reach the first $1 million.
The TREPcoach Master Entrepreneurs program is ideally suited for startups and owners of smaller businesses as well as female entrepreneurs and social enterprises. It’s a really quick way of gaining far more momentum and using much less time in your business.
In my view my most important Centers of Influence to liaise with are existing top-end marketers (like yourself) who already have a loyal following and sell into the entrepreneurial space, as I see there are great synergy possibilities within a number of different niches, and the TREPcoach offering can work with almost any kind of business.
All the best,
Mike

Julia lives in a small Colorado mountain town that is filled with mineral springs, holistic healers and artists. She uses essential oils, holistsic healing and art to transform herself and others to Optimum Health.
Julia was introduced to Essential Oils over 15 years ago when recovering from a bad car accident Julia has used alternative healing methods to recover from 3 reckless drivers crashing into her car, almost drowing, a huge blot clot in her left venous vein, a “slight” concussion and to stay away from depression during all these times of healing. She has incorporated many Essential Oils with pain relief and relaxing properties into her healing journey begun many years ago.
While recovering from a swollen leg caused by a huge blood clot she ignored 3 doctors telling her it would only get worse. Using various holistic approaches to decrease the swelling and dissolve the clot, she hiked 13 mountainous miles four years later and hikes every weekend.
Julia uses Essential Oils for Aroma Therapy to relax her mind and sore muscles that distract her from falling asleep. And she has created a variety of meditations and mental “games” to vanquish worrisome thoughts that try to get in the way of falling asleep quickly.
She began using whole foods in her diet for over 40 years. Although not a vegetarian, she considers herself to be a conscientious eater, and uses healthy foods to maintain her Optimal Health.
Her artistic side, Fantafaces, works with feathers and found objects. Each mask has a character all its own and sparks instant Transformation when someone puts one on their face. Hair Clips and earrings float in your hair or besides your ears for a playful look. She often incorporates found objects in pins and has recently begun experimenting with creating wall art pieces using fewer feathers and more found objects.
